Here at CSM, we are a specialist company providing both domestic and commercial services. Whether it’s working across housing estates and schools or partnering with English Heritage and teams of Conservation Officers to restore and preserve listed buildings, churches and monuments—we take pride in every project we undertake.
CSM is a family-run business with a wealth of experience. Colin started with a small team in 1999, and the company has grown significantly. Today, CSM is proudly run by Colin and his son Matthew, and Colin’s other three sons—Chris, Ryan, and Sam—are now supervising projects across the North East. Together, the family brings hands-on leadership and a shared passion for quality craftsmanship.
We now have a larger team supported by a skilled labour force, including time-served tradesmen and gold card holders in stone masonry, bricklaying and joinery.
We’re passionate about the work we do and take great care in conserving and restoring—whether it be a small domestic job or a full-scale project on a listed building or world heritage site.

A Legacy Built on Stone
Colin founded the business in 1999 after many years of honing his craft on traditional restoration projects across the region. Starting with just a small team, his vision was simple: quality work done properly, without the corporate fluff.
Today, CSM is run by Colin and his family, including his sons who now supervise projects. What began as a local masonry company has grown into a trusted name in heritage restoration – working with schools, councils, universities and private clients throughout the North East.
